Crowns and Bridges
Crowns
A dental crown is like a small cap that covers a tooth to protect it. It can be shaped and color-matched to make it look as much like your natural teeth as possible. You may need a crown if you have a tooth that:
- Has a large cavity.
- Is decaying.
- Has been cracked or broken.
- Is severely misshapen or worn down.
Dental crowns are also used in other restorative dentistry, such as covering a dental implant or holding a dental bridge in place.
Bridges
A dental bridge is a tool used to bridge the gap between missing teeth without needing implants. For example, if you have one missing tooth between two natural teeth, our dentists can use a dental bridge to replace your missing tooth.
The bridge will attach to the natural teeth on either side of the gap just like crowns. Between these two crowns will be a new tooth that is held in place by the crowns on either side of it. It is a simple solution to a missing tooth that does not require surgery.
